Needing more power out of your Nissan RB25DET? Want a built block without needing to send out your motor? A Raw Brokerage Built Short Block is the solution to high horse power needs with a budget friendly options!
**The block**
These built short blocks are built from good OEM cores. Starting with a used factory R33 Nissan RB25DET engine block it is stripped down and tanked for cleaning. From there all surfaces blocks go through a through inspection for weak points and imperfections. The block to cylinder head surfaced is decked to have a true straight surface. This provides an optimal mating surface for your head gasket. We then machine the cylinders to accept the pistons of your choice.
**The pistons**
If factory pistons are chosen; we take good factory core pistons with brand new OEM rings installed to freshly honed cylinder walls. If aftermarket pistons are chosen; the cylinder walls are bored .020" over (.5mm) to accept forged slugs. The forged pistons available through Raw Brokerage have a range of horse power ratings up to 300hp per cylinder!
**The rods**
From there we have the connecting rods are inspected for imperfections and prepared with ARP 2000 rod bolts. That's of course unless you choose to go with forged connecting rods from one of the various manufactures that offer some of the most solid rods on the market! These rods provide the highest level of insurance that your high RPM RB25 monster stays nicely together and with stand the increased stress of high boost applications.
**The crankshaft**
The factory crankshaft is also cleaned inspected. The journals go through a high tolerance polish treatment. To correct oiling issues the short crank collar is machined off and fitted with a Raw Brokerage Extended crank collar. The crankshaft is secured in place using only performance hardware by ARP. The ARP Main Stud Kit for the RB25 is installed using ARP moly lube and torqued to spec to freshly cleaned and chased threads in the underside of the block. Furthermore, set of properly matched ACL Race Bearings are used both on the main journals and the rod journals. The entire rotating assembly is assembled and torqued to proper specifications and balanced.
**The finishers**
These built short blocks are finished off with brand new freeze plugs, timing belt tenioner stud, pilot bushing and rear main seal.
Need an oil pump? We have you covered! Investing in a new oil pump will provide the additional insurance a freshly built motor needs. Looking to rev your motor past OEM RPM limits or increase the factory output of your motor? We recommend choosing one of the premium constructed oil pumps for your setup; RB25DET Oil Pumps. If an oil pump is selected, we will install it to your freshly built block with a new OEM gasket.
**Harmonic Balancer**
Considered one of the most over looked parts on a RB, the harmonic balancer. This component plays a critical role in keeping everything in tune and reducing (almost eliminating) harmful harmonics in these motors. Most likely you have a 15+ year old balancer from your RB25 that needs replacing due to dried and cracked rubber or chipped casing. Ross Tuffbond provides the solution with the best damper you can install to any motor. Specifically made for the RB25 there are several options. The Nexus Balancer provides the best solution for a factory rebuilt engine to a mild street application. The more popular MetalJacket Balancer is rated to 1,500 HP and 12,000 RPM a true out performer that is ready for any build from a street application to a track ready beast. These balancers sport a 360 degree timing wheel (a must for degreeing cams). Also found on the MetalJacket is provisions for COG gear adapters for dry sump setups or additional drives. With either the Nexus or MetalJacket you'll be able to retain all your factory accessories such as power steering and air conditioning. If air conditioning isn't needed and this motor is being built for strictly track use then the Race Balancer fits the build. Omitting the A/C pulley, additional rubber is added to the balancer's casing giving it the highest level of damping found on any balancer offered for the RB25DET. If a balancer is selected with your engine build we will provide a brand new crank timing gear and snout keys installed.
Cooling does come into play with any RB motor and just like the oil pump. Replacing the water pump is recommended. If choosing either the OEM factory replacement or the factory upgraded N1 model water pump, we will install it to your built short block with quality RTV sealant.

Note - By providing a good core RB25DET block, matching girdle and crankshaft means usable block with little to no cylinder scoring. If upon receipt of core and found to be unusable, the customer is responsible for any return shipping or transit of the engine block and crankshaft.
